By Dr. Nisha Patel

Good vision is essential for a child's development, learning, and social interaction. Yet many vision problems go undetected because children assume everyone sees the world the way they do.
Recommended Eye Exam Schedule
- First exam: at 6 months of age
- Second exam: at 3 years of age
- Before starting school: at 5-6 years
- Every 1-2 years throughout school years
- More frequently if issues are detected
Signs Your Child May Have a Vision Problem
- Sitting too close to the TV or holding books very close
- Frequent eye rubbing or blinking
- Covering one eye or tilting the head
- Complaints of headaches or tired eyes
- Difficulty concentrating in school
- Avoidance of reading or close-up activities
